Specialist Physician in Ophthalmology

The ophthalmology department provides acute and planned eye care with outpatient and surgical services as well as vision rehabilitation. At the eye clinic in Gävle, we currently have about 50 employees who together conduct both outpatient and surgical activities. We work in modern facilities and have a high patient flow. In addition to outpatient work, cataract surgery and eyelid surgery are also performed. The professions included in the team are doctors, ophthalmic nurses, registered nurses, nursing assistants, optometrists, orthoptists, and medical secretaries.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a specialist physician at our eye clinic, you will have a varied and developing job. Here, both planned and acute activities are conducted, and you will always have close collaboration with nursing assistants and registered nurses, making the workflow smooth and efficient. We offer a surgical practice where the majority of surgeries are performed under local anesthesia. The role also includes natural leadership where you serve as a role model in clinical work and contribute to the development of the operation. We also actively work with sustainability issues to contribute to greener healthcare.

Your main responsibilities

• diagnosis and treatment of various ophthalmological patients
• participate in surgical care with follow-ups
• supervision of residents and junior doctors.

The role includes on-call duties during evenings and weekends.

As a specialist physician with us, you are expected to contribute with high medical competence and a professional approach. The role requires good collaboration skills, where you actively participate in the multiprofessional work and contribute to a well-functioning care chain. We are looking for someone with a well-developed holistic view who can balance the individual needs of patients with the goals and resources of the operation. You are flexible and able to adapt to changing conditions while working independently and taking responsibility for driving your work forward in a structured and efficient manner. Mentoring and supporting colleagues and students is an important part of the assignment, and we therefore see that you have a pedagogical ability and an interest in sharing your knowledge and experience.
